Convertibles Rock (Part II)
Cycle Gear had a one-day only deal on the size tires that both my Trophy and RS eat, and while browsing their site, I found a Frank Thomas one piece leather suit on closeout for $300 ($200 off).
I've thought about buying a seat of leathers ever since buying the RS, but my disdain for looking like a power-ranger coupled with the $500+ price tag had held me back. At $300, I figured they might be worth a shot.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any Frank Thomas sizing information online, so this morning Dawnise and I hopped back in the car and drove down to the nearest Cycle Gear, in Tacoma.
The weather today was even better than yesterday - a few degrees warmer under crystal blue skies. We made it down to Tacoma, determined that I'm a size 44. Well, actually what we determined is that the 42 they had was too small, and the 46 was a bit to big, and that under no circumstances would I be wearing leathers over jeans. That last bit makes me pause more than anything, 'cause my plan was to commute in it on the RS, which is lacking saddle bags. And somehow I doubt it would be either "cool" or comfortable to wear the suit all day.
From Tacoma we drove up to Seattle and wandered through the Cheese expo going on at Pike Market. Sampled a bunch of cheeses and quickly bought more than the "none" we had been planning. Dawnise found several goat cheeses she liked (surprised her as much as anyone), and there were a couple others that were too good to pass on.
In the middle there we filled up the tank on the BMW for the first time. Holy crap. Between it having a bigger tank than the Saturn (17 gal vs. 10) and eating premium fuel, that was unexpected. Once I did all the math and realized I'd just bought a tank and a half of gas, that the BMW was getting only slightly worse mileage than the Saturn (impressive for a 3l V6) and that the "premium" was only $3 worth of icing on the cake, I felt a bit better, but still.
Woooah, eh?

Fuck - you're getting premium for $3/gal? We're getting damned close to $4/gal here (at least a few places have passed that mark).
