Business Plan

Coz and I were chatting while driving around Vancouver this weekend, and hit on an idea for a business. It seems terribly obvious, but neither of us can find any evidence that it's been tried.

The elevator pitch is "do for home coffee roasting what 'U-Brew' did for home brewing."

Basically, take boutique/micro-roast coffee to the next logical step - allowing people to mix and roast their own beans, while removing the equipment cost, storage, and ventilation hurdles that stop interested people (like me) from trying it at home.

Want a custom blend of Colombian, Ethiopian, and Kenyan beans? We can do that. Roasted just past medium? No problem. Want all of them to be triple-hippie (shade grown, organic, fair trade)? Buy your indulgence like everyone else. Flavors? Sure. Decaf? Consider it done.

The possibilities seem endless.

Coz did a little looking into small batch roasters, and the equipment start-up costs seem manageable.

Now all we need is another life wherein we have time to develop this idea.

Hey, I'm not doing anything at the moment... I'm doing some more research on it this week. :) "House of Brews" opening soon near you!
