Procrastination
Since getting Dawnise's car out of storage after the move (about a year ago now) it's been on my list to clean it's rugs.
I finally kicked procrastination out the window this morning, grabbed the shop vac and carpet machine, and spent the next three hours (!) extracting sludge from the cars carpets.
Blech.
On the plus side, the car looks (and smells) much better - on the down side, it's damp, and I'm not sure if it'll dry before we want to leave for the improv tonight.
On a related note - I'm the not-so-proud owner of two - count em two - motorcycles that won't run.
The RS is still leaking from the fuel connector (I mentioned it a while ago) and since the last time I tried to fix it I ended up needing to order a part from CA and extract the broken one with a power drill I'm really not ambitious to try again. So the RS is on the rear stand, with the body panels half off, annoying me every time I look at it. Since the local mechanic swore off Triumph due to a poor parts supply chain, the closest place that will work on it is across the ferry and 20 miles away, which promises to be a hell of a tow bill.
The Trophy, on the other hand, isn't leaking - but it just won't start. I've charged the battery (several times) and I smell gas while it's cranking itself to death, but it never catches. I have to pull the body work off and check the plugs and fuel filter. It hasn't liked to start on cold mornings for a while - but normally it would finally catch, and once it warmed up it ran fine.
Dawnises bike, on the other hand, after not running for a month, started right up and, once warmed up, ran great. But I look a bit like the proverbial clown when riding her bike - the frame is just a bit small for me.
This is all annoying, but not terrible since I can walk to work - but it was beautiful this morning, and I would have loved to go on a ride before the clouds moved back in... Grumble.
On the weather front - it's apparently rained every day for the last 20 days. That doesn't mean it's been raining constantly - just that each day it's rained at least once. It's starting to get to the point where I could stand a bit less wet - but it's not yet driving me crazy. Just to keep the record going, it rained a bit this morning, but at the moment it's just clouded over and grey.
Today has been "straighten up the house" day, and tomorrow will be "go shopping for supplies before the ravaging hoards invade." My parents, my sister, Vince, Donna and Ari are arriving between Thursday morning and Saturday morning and staying until between Monday and Wednesday. This should be interesting...
