Now we're cooking with gas...

Scott and Amanda (and Zoe, of course) came down from the Vancouver area this weekend. It all started when I saw a flyer for the "Greater Seattle Area Vintage Guitar Show" that was taking place this past Sunday. Being something of a guitar addict, I figured Scott might want to come down and check it out.

That turned into a plan for them to come down for the weekend, which they did.

They arrived in the afternoon on Saturday and the ladies promptly dropped Zoe on "the guys" and headed to Target -- a shopping experience apparently unavailable across the border to the North. They returned several hours later with a respectable haul (much of which, I suspect is available in Canada).

Dawnise took advantage of Scott and Amanda's Honda CRV to haul home the new BBQ we'd been looking at @ Home Depot - so they bought steaks at Costco and filled up the propane tank on their way home. After 6 month of not owning a BBQ, let me just say I missed it way more than I missed television. ;) Dinner was great (if I do say so myself) - good friends, good food, and a bottle of good wine. Zoe mostly entertained herself, and it was great to just sit and chat with friends.

Sunday we caught the 8:45 ferry into Seattle and introduced our guests to the Tea and Crumpet Shop - which seemed to go over well. From there Scott and I took the car, dropped the ladies and Zoe off for a ferry back to the island, and went down to the guitar show.

The show was small, but dense - lots of vendors, some very cool stuff. I think the most expensive guitar I saw was $17,000 - and that didn't count the two that said "All serious offers considered" and "Will trade for real-estate." It only took about 90 minutes to walk the show floor twice, but it was worth my $7.

We caught the next ferry back and again kept an eye on Zoe while the ladies went back to Target to retrieve a purchased item that didn't make it into the bags on the first trip. We shot pool (the first time I've used the table since we moved in) and generally hung out. The ladies came back, mission accomplished, with a 6' tall cat tree crammed into the CRV.

We made dinner - spaghetti, sausage, garlic bread and salad, and had about a half hour to sit around and chat before they packed up the car and made a run for the border.

Good times.

We had an absolutely fantastic time. I can't wait to head down and do it again - guitar show or no. :)

And for those playing along at home - I found this ( http://www.musiciansthreads.com/img/t-shirt.jpg ) and just had to have it. :) So I'm proud to say that I went to a guitar show, bought something, and didn't have to sneak it in the back door. :D
